From 6-7 pm every Wednesday our teenagers (7th grade - seniors) get together in our gym for fun and worship.

Discipleship Training
Sunday - 5:00 p.m.

This is a time of in-depth Bible study with adults of all ages. Topics vary from studying books of the Bible to specific interests like parenting, finances, and evangelism training. Our goal is to grow in Christ and become more like Him.

The Lamp Post
New Year's Day is actually one of my favorite holidays. I know Christmas has not passed yet but my record on updating this section is not too good so I thought I would give myself a little more leeway! Anyway, back to New Year's Day. My family (my parents, grandparents, and us) gets together to share summer sausage, cheese, fondue, and cookies (my dad and grandparents eat beef tongue but that's a pass for me) and watch football and a movie together. The day never starts too early and we just sit and enjoy each other's company and the food. When I was a kid, we always got together and my Granny & Grandpa's house but recently this tradition has been moved to our house. This is even better because I love hosting the family and not having to drive! The significance of the holiday is also what draws me to love it. Now Jan. 1 is no better than any other day to make a fresh start but it always gives us a chance to look back on the year and consider what we would have different in the coming year. Now, I guess losing a few pounds or exercising more regularly are great goals but I like to look a bit deeper. When God instituted a New Year celebration for the Israelites in the Old Testament, He focused the attention on repentance and forgiveness. Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur, as they are now called, work together to celebrate the Jewish New Year. They focus on repenting from sin in the past year and looking forward to what God would do and have us do in the new year. I think we should take a cue from this and ask a few questions. What would God most like to change in my life in 2008? What would God most like to do through me in 2008? What things can I do or change to help me follow Jesus more faithfully in 2008? As you think about these questions, let God lead you to great resolutions for this year. By the way, resolutions should never be dropped just because you mess up once. That's like taking a walk and just lying on the ground because you tripped once. Get up and continue down the path you started on. Finally, this New Year's Day is extra special because, for the first time in my lifetime, the Tigers will be playing in a bowl game January 1! M-I-Z Z-O-U! Happy New Year!
